Abstract:
Experiments were conducted on container seedling cultivation of Torreya grandis ‘Xifei’ in Songyang of Zhejiang province with different substrates, different containers and different quantity of slow release of fertilizer. 1-year seedlings were T. grandis ‘Xifei’ as scion grafted on 2-year T. grandis as stock. One year later, determinations demonstrated that survival rate of seedlings in non-woven bag was 36% higher than that in plastic cup. New shoot growth of seedlings was influenced by moisture content of soil>substrate>slow release fertilizer. Ground diameter increment of seedlings was significantly affected by moisture content of soil>slow release fertilizer>substrate. Comprehensive evaluation on seedling quality resulted that the best substrate was sub top soil: waste mushroom stick: peat = 2: 1: 1, with non-woven bag as container, and 30g slow release fertilizer each seedling.
