Abstract:
Objective The aim of this study is to explore effects of different fertilizer treatments on root of Prunus serrulata ‘Kanzan’ and to select a preferable fertilization scheme.
Methods The root drilling method was used to sample the roots in different soil layers of sampling points in Yuyuantan Park, and Win-RHIZO Pro root analysis system was utilized to analyze root system indicators.
Results The soil layer of 0~20 cm was the main layer where roots of P. serrulata ‘Kanzan’ concentrated. The total root length, root length with d<0.5 mm, root projection area, root surface area and root tips counting in fertilizer treatment groups were higher than those of the group without fertilizer (CK).
Conclusion Fertilization may effectively promote the root system growth of P. serrulata ‘Kanzan’, the optimal effect coming when the sample is treated with the Deep Hole Rejuvenation Substrate.
