Abstract:
In June 2020, a massive infestation of
Coronaproctus castanopsis occurred in the evergreen broad-leaved forest of the Gutianshan National Nature Reserve in Qianjiangyuan National Park System Pilot Area, causing significant losses. To get a comprehensive overview of the damage caused by
C.
castanopsis, the survey from July to August 2022 was conducted with 35 sample lines set in main places of the Pilot Area. The result showed that
C.
Castanopsis was found in 11 sample lines all distributed in the Gutianshan Nature Reserve, with the highest number of
C.
Castanopsis( reaching six individuals) on 1~2 year-old branches in sample line 2 (Songkeng-Sample Plot 4). The host plants of
C.
castanopsis were
Castanopsis eyrei,
C.
carlesii and
C.
fargesii of Fagaceae, 1~2 year-old crown branches of which were the parasitic positions. The number of
C.
Castanopsis on 1~2 year-old branches of
C.
eyrei is the highest in the pilot area, the occurrence of
C.
Castanopsis on the
C.
eyrei was the most frequent, therefore,
C.
eyrei was the main host for this pest, followed by
C.
carlesii,
C.
fargesii with the lowest occurrence. The result of this survey could provide significant data for
C.
Castanopsis control in the Pilot Area.
