Abstract:
This study aims to explore the growth adaptability of
Nekemias grossedentata under different altitudinal environments in Southwestern Zhejiang, providing a scientific basis for its large-scale cultivation and promotion in this region. An introduction and cultivation experiment was conducted at three altitudinal gradients (250 m, 550 m and 950 m) in Songyang County, Southwestern Zhejiang from 2021 to 2023, with the growth and development rhythm of
N.
grossedentata systematically observed and its growth indicators and biological characteristics measured and analyzed. The results showed that
N.
grossedentata could grow and develop normally in the southwest of Zhejiang Province with a growing period of approximately 219 days, and no severe pest and disease damage, frost injury or sunburn were observed during the introduction period. The survival rate of introduced seedlings reached (86.47 ± 5.66) % with (8.66 ± 0.36) newly-emerged leaves per plant, an average root length of (7.32 ± 4.50) cm and a fresh weight of new shoots and leaves up to 1.50 g per plant. At the altitude of 250 m, the contents of polysaccharide and total flavonoid were (27.24±0.29) mg·g
−1 and (9.64±0.07) mg·g
−1, respectively, which were significantly different from those in the native habitat. At mid-altitudes (550 ~ 950 m), the polysaccharide content ranged from (29.54 ± 0.11) to (30.56 ± 0.16) mg·g
−1, and the total flavonoid content from (10.95 ± 0.15) to (11.17 ± 0.05) mg·g
−1, showing no significant differences from those in the native habitat. In conclusion, it is recommended to promote the cultivation of
N.
grossedentata at the altitudes of 550 ~ 950 m in Southwestern Zhejiang.
