Abstract: Determination of thousand seed weight of Ilex verticillata ‘Oosterwijk’ in 2007 showed the mean weight of 6.8g. Experiments on germination rate with or without sand storage and seedling cultivation in 2008 and 2009 demonstrated that germination rate of seed without sand storage was zero, and that of 1 year sand storage had mean germination rate of 27% in incubator and 24.4% in open field. Observations on growth of seedlings from 2009 to 2014 indicated that 3-year seedlings started to flower and fruit with 50% of male and female seedlings. Mean height and ground diameter of 6-year seedling was 252.3cm and 3.5cm. Fruit color and density of seedling was less than that of clones.
