Growth Variation and Early Selection from Different Families of Three Speices of Cyclobalanopsis

  • Determinations were implemented on growth traits of 58 families of 3-4-year Cyclobalanopsis gilva, C. chungii and C. myrsinifolia seedlings in Longquan, Zhejiang province. Analysis was made on growth traits, genetic variations and correlation among growth traits and early selection was carried out among tested families. The results revealed that there were rich variations among different families and different speices. 4-year seedlings of different families had positive relation among growth traits (P=0.05). There was obvious phenotypic correlation between height growth and new shoot growth of the current year, and the genetic and environment correlation was evident. 13 families were preliminary selected for their better grwoth, namely Ningchi 3, Ningchi 2, Ningchi 4, Ningchi 10, Fuchi 8, Ningchi 6, Qingxiao 11, Ningchi 7, Qingxiao 9, Fuchi 7, Longxiao 6, Qingxiao 1 and Fuchi 5. Most of then were families of C. gilva, indicating better growth than the other two species. The early selection of growth traits showed evidently stable.
