Study on Spring Grafting Technology of Magnolia sinostellata

  • In the spring, approach grafting, cut grafting and side grafting were used to graft propagation of Magnolia sinostellata. In this experiment, M. denudata and M. biondiiwere used as rootstocks and M. sinostellata as scion. Each treatment of 100, repeated three times, statistical survival rate and scion length after 105 days. The results showed that the survival rate of the approach grafting was the highest, which was significantly higher than cut grafting and side grafting (P <0.05), the highest was 95%.The lowest survival rate of the side grafting was 20% when theM. biondii was the rootstock. No matter what kind of grafting, the survival rate of M. denudata as the rootstock was higher than that of M. biondiias the rootstock, and the growth rate of scion was fast. The maximum length of scion is 57.6 cm when used approach grafting. Therefore, in the springM. sinostellatausing approach grafting for graft propagation is feasible.
