New Record of Harpiocephalus harpia in Hainan Province

  • On December 21 of 2016, a female bat was captured by harp trap in Qiongzhong county, Hainan province, China. Its main features had larger body, forearm length of 46.54 mm, tubular nose and thick chaeta. Hind legs, wing membrane and uropatagium covered with thick, soft and maroon villus. It had a large skull with length of 21.26 mm and robust teeth. It is identified as Harpiocephalus harpia, a new distribution record in Hainan Province, China.
