Abstract
Sample plots were established in July 2016 in 4 Hamamelismolliscommunities in Gaomu Mountain ofPan’an country, Zhejiang province. Community characteristics and population structure wasstudied. The results showed that the dominant species in the communities were H. mollis and Dendrobenthamia japonicavar. chinensis, withimportancevalue of 20.126% and 17.737% respectively. Species richness index was the highest atarbor layer and evenness index at shrub layer, and dominance indexof each layer wassimilar. Distribution of arbor layer height in the communities was concentrated in 5-6 m. Investigation demonstrated that H. mollis was not dominant in height in thecommunity, but it had largercanopyby root sprouts. Population of H. mollis was aggregated distribution in the communities. Population structure was dominant in small- and medium-sized H. mollis, indicatingstable population.
