Protection and Management of Water-level-fluctuating Zone in Three Gorges Reservoir of Chongqing

  • Investigations and analysis were carried out by field survey, 3S technology and references during January and September of 2017 on area water-level-fluctuating zone in Three Gorges Reservoir zone of Chongqing and length of shoreline.The result demonstrated that there were 268.54 km2 of the water-level-fluctuating zone and 4 811.68 km of shoreline in Chongqing, which could be divided into 664 units.The units were divided into five types, such as steep slope, plateau, island, etc.According to comprehensive social and economic environment in the water-level-fluctuating zone and shoreline, integrated management, ecological restoration and conservation were recommended, with area of 25.78 km2, 12.11 km2 and 230.65 km2 , and shoreline of 323.77 km, 176.42 km and 4 311.49 km respectively.
