Abstract
The pollen viability of Rh.huadingense and the effects ofdifferent storage methodswere studied, the results showed that the germination rate of fresh pollens was as high as 98%, fresh pollens which were stored at room temperature (20℃) had a high activity in 3 days, then the activity of pollens declined rapidly, thegermination rate was about 85.5% when the pollens were stored at 4℃ for a week, after half a month ,the germination rate was up to 50%., It can be used as a short-term (within 15 days) preservation method for Rh. huadingense pollen. When stored at-20℃ for 40 days, the germination rate of pollens was up to 87.4%, while stored at-80℃ for 60 days, the germination ratecould remain at 95.2%, it could be used for the long-term preservation of the pollen. Our results indicate that pollen viability is not the biological reasonfor the endangered state of Rh. huadingense
