Abstract
In March 2016, 1-year Populus deltoides ‘Xianglin 90’ seedlings were planted with 6 density in Yiyang, Hunan province. In December 2019, sample plots were established for tally. The results showed that average DBH, tree height and single tree volume increased with decrease of density. The experiment demonstrated that plantation with density of 417 tree/ha and spacing in and between the rows of 4 m×6 m had the maximum growth index, mean DBH of 23.27 cm, mean height of 17.13 cm and volume of 0.291 m3, which was significantly different from the other planting densities (P<0.05). Plantation with density of 833 tree/ha (3 m×4 m), had the maximum stand volume of 140.25 m3/ha. The experiment resulted that the best planting density of P. deltoides ‘Xianglin 90’ was 417 and 833 tree/ha.
