Current Situation of Mangrove Resources and Countermeasures in Huidong County

The mangrove resources in Huidong county, Guangdong province were investigated by satellite remote sensing survey in 2018 and spotplot survey. The results showed that there were 1 361.83 hm2mangrove, including 400.15 hm2 mangrove forest land, 42.27 hm2 young mangroveforest land and 919.41 hm2 suitable land for mangrove. There were 15 species of mangrove plants in the county, including 9 true mangrove species, 6semi mangrove ones and 29 associated ones. Analysis was made on distribution and area of Mangroves in Huidong, their types of communities,species diversity, original nature and threats. Meanwhile, mangroves were threatened by reclamation and cultivation, tourism development andconstruction, invasive alien species like Sonneratia apetala, untreated sewage discharge, etc. Countermeasures were put forwarded like protectionpolicies, mixed mangrove communities, reducing coastal beach aquaculture, constructing sewage treatment, etc.
