Study on Carbon Reserve and Sequestration of Forest in Qinghai Area of Qilian Mountain National Park

  • Based on the data of forest land in Qinghai area of Qilian Mountain National Park in 2017, forest biomass, carbon reserve and sequestration were studied by IPCC and default value method. The results showed that the total biomass and total carbon reserve of forest was 3.397 1 million ton and 1.702 3 million ton, respectively. Unit area biomass was 19.73 t/ha, and the carbon density was 9.89 t/ha. The potential value of carbon trading reached to 27.236 1 million US (JI) or 41.194 6 million US (CDM). Total biomass and reserve of different arbor species was ordered by Picea crassifolia>Sabina przewalskii>Betula utilis>B. platyphylla>B. albosinensis>Populus spp. (P. davidiana, P. cathay, etc.). Unit area total biomass carbon density of different arbor tree species was ranked by P. crassifolia>B. albosinensis>B. platyphylla>B. utilis>S. przewalskii> Populus spp. . Young and middle-aged forests occupied 66.2% and 66.1% of the total biomass and carbon reserve, which increased quickly in Qilian Mountains National Park in recent years. It was the result of afforestation.
