Investigation, Introduction and Cultivation of Allium Resources in the Eastern Qilian Mountain in Gansu

  • During June and October 2017, investigation was carried out on Allium resources and their current utilization in the eastern Qilian Mountain in Gansu province. From April 2018 to October 2019, introduction and of obtained species of Allium was conducted. The result showed that there were 9 species in the investigated area, namely A. cyaneum, A. sikkimense, A. tanguticum, A. carolinianum, A. rude, A. przewalskianum, A. polyrhizum, A. mongolicum, A. herderianum. They were distributed at altitude of 2 000-4 500 m, A. sikkimense, A. tanguticum and A. rude was at humid habitat, and A. cyaneum, A. carolinianum, A. przewalskianum, A. polyrhizum, A. mongolicum and A. herderianum liked dry habitat. The economic value of Allium in investigated area was edible, medicinal and ornamental by mainly harvesting wild resources and cultivating. Introduction experiment demonstrated that seed germination rate of nine species was 68.41%-95.73%, the yield of fresh leaf was 7 922.55-13 538.40 kg/ha, and the yield of fresh flower was 2 732.25-4 746.00 kg/ha. The experiment showed that seed germination rate, fresh leaf and flower yield had extremely significant difference among 9 Allium species (P<0.05) or significant (P<0.01).
