Comparative Study on Hair Root Development and Mycorrhizal Infection of Rhododendron fortunei under Different Habitats in Huading Mountain

  • From July to August 2020, investigations were carried out on the development of hair roots, mycorrhizal infection of Rhododendron fortunei, and major nutrient elements in soil and litter in habitats namely with Indocalamus tessellatus, with Camellia sinensis, and pure Rh. fortunei as control in Huading mountain(shorter for Huanding National Forest Park), Tiantai, Zhejiang province. The results showed that in habitat with In. tessellatus, hair roots of Rh. fortunei had maldevelopment, but the mycorrhizal infection rate was significantly increased, total C, total N, C/N and N/P in the soil were significantly higher than those in the other two habitats, while total P was in the opposite. There was no difference between habitat with C. sinensis and the control, however, hair root and ericoid mycorrhiza of Rh. fortunei was greatly impacted by In. tessellatus expansion.
