Mammalian Fauna and Diversity in Gansu Annanba Wild Camel National Nature Reserve

  • Investigations on mammal resources were carried out from 2018 to 2020 in Annanba Wild Camel National Nature Reserve, Gansu province. The results showed that in the Reserve, there were 56 species of mammals, belonging to 40 genera of 16 families and 7 orders. The Palaearctic composition of the mammal fauna was dominant, like Dipodidae, Felidae and Ochotonidae in the Family class. Ochotonidae is endemic in China. Rodentia and Carnivora had the most species among orders with higher species diversity. In species class, the mammalian fauna belongs to the composition of the Northern type, with abundant species of the Central Asian type. The fauna of mammals is relatively independent. The mammals of the reserve could be divided into four faunas: gobi fauna, bare rock fauna, desert fauna and mountain grassland fauna. The list of mammals was updated compared with that in 2000-2002, 15 species were newly recorded, and Procapra picticaudata was deleted.
