Diversity of Mammalia and Aves by Infrared Cameras in Zhejiang Qingliangfeng National Nature Reserve

  • From December, 2017 to November, 2019, 115 grid-type infrared cameras were set to monitor Mammalia and Aves in 128 grids of Zhejiang Qingliangfeng National Nature Reserve. 18363 effective photos were obtained, of which 84.89% were mammals and 13.11% of birds. The result demonstrated that there were 18 mammal species which belong to 8 orders and 12 familieso 8 orders and 16 families. It had four species of the Lists of Wildlife under grade one Special State Protection of China, Manis pentadactyla, Cervus nippon, Muntiaeus crinifrons and Syrmaticus ellioti, and twelve under grade two, Macaca mulatta, Prionailurus bengalensis, Capricornis milneedwardsii, Pucrasia macrolopha, Lophura nycthemera, Spilornis cheela, Accipiter trivirgatus, Accipiter gentilis, Glaucidium cuculoides, Garrulax canorus, Garrulax berthemyi, Leiothrix lutea. Top four Mammalia species of relative abundance index were Muntiacus reevesi (25.17), Sus scrofa (7.37), C. nippon (5.87), and Arctonyx albogularis (3.91), and top four Aves species were L. nycthemera (5.71), P macrolopha (0.82), G. canorus (0.54) and Myophonus caeruleus (0.37). Observation on activities rhythm of the above-mentioned four mammals and bird species revealed that except A.albogularis was active during the day and night, while the left three Mammalia species and four birds were diurnal animals.
