Pathways Link Green Space to College Students' Mental Health in Campus by Configurational Analysis

  • During October 2021 and January 2022, investigations were carried out on by 861 online questionnaire to 18 universities in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province. 848 effective copies were collected. The necessity of green space and configurational analysis were implemented by Pearson correlation analysis and fuzzy set qualitative comparative analysis (fsQCA). The result demonstrated that green space rate, vegetation richness, green space visibility, spatial diversity, green space perimeter area ratio, tree canopy coverage and per capita green space area had significant relation with college students' mental health. The green space rate and spatial diversity are necessary conditions for promoting the positive and positive development of college students' psychology. The study concluded that the five pathways like campus green space to the mental health development of college students, like accessibility priority type, entirely balance type, quantity oriented type, high quality green space type and reachable comfort type.
