Tuber Quality of Tetrastigma hemsleyanum from Different Producing Areas

  • In July 2019, T. hemsleyanum were collected. This article used the method specified in the "Chinese Pharmacopoeia" to determine the moisture and extract content of T. hemsleyanum roots in the main production area of T. hemsleyanum in China. Aluminum nitrate was used to determine the moisture and alcohol soluble extract content of the T. hemsleyanum roots, the sodium nitrite colorimetric method was used to determine total flavonoids, while the folinol colorimetric method was used to determine the content of total phenols, polygonatum glycoside, astragaloside, resveratrol, quercetin, and kaempferol by HPLC. The result demonstrated that the moisture content ranged from 5.97% to 11.01%, the extract content 9.24%-18.82%, with means of 15.04%, which meet the requirements of “Zhejiang Traditional Chinese Medicine Processing Regulations” (2015 ed)(? 9%). The highest total flavonoid and the phenol contents was from tubers of ZJ-WL and (FJ-SX), the highest content of polydatin and resveratrol was from FJ-SX. Astragalin content was the highest from GZ-TZ. The highest content of quercetin and kaempferol was from ZJ-WL. It concluded that T. hemsleyanum from Zhejiang province had higher effective components. Analysis found that the content of the extract from tubers of T. hemsleyanum had extremely significant positive correlation with the content of total phenols, polydatin and quercetin (P<0.01), and positive relation with the content of total flavonoids and kaempferol (P<0.05). The content of total flavonoids had extremely significantly positive relation with the content of quercetin and kaempferol (P<0.01). The content of total phenols was positively correlated with the content of polydatin, quercetin and kaempferol (P<0.05). The content of polydatin was positively correlated with the content of resveratrol, and the content of quercetin was positively correlated with the content of kaempferol.
