Abstract
In this paper, the damage caused by Poecilocoris latus in the Fuyang region and its biological characteristics were observed. The results showed that the average hazard rates in Fuyang district were 25.67% and 27.59%, respectively, over the past two years. This insect has one generation per year, and the nymphs have five instars in total. Poecilocoris latus overwinters in the state of mature nymphs and feeds on the fruit or tender leaves of Camellia oleifera. Through breeding, a total of 423 eggs were obtained, with a hatching rate of 89.36%, resulting in 209 females and 169 males. The average lifespan of females is 69.77 days, while males’ is 60.32 days. The adult damage period is from June to September, and the nymph damage period is from April to July (overwintering generation) and from July to October.
