Identification and Bioinformatics Analysis of PeCPP Gene Family Members in Phyllostachys edulis

  • CPP is an important plant transcription factor and is widely distributed across various plants due to its strong stress resistance. To better understand the mechanism of stress tolerance, such as cold and drought resistance in Phyllostachys edulis, and to provide a molecular genetics foundation for its breeding, the whole genome data of P. edulis were analyzed by HMMER 3.0 on the basis of bioinformatics in this study. Seventeen CPP family members were identified, all of which were classified as unstable proteins that localized in the nucleus by subcellular localization prediction. Analyses of conserved protein domains and peptide motifs revealed that PeCPP maintained high conservation throughout long-term evolution. Phylogenetic analysis of the CPP gene family in P. edulis, Oryza sativa, and Arabidopsis thaliana by MEGA7.0 further confirmed a closer genetic relationship between P. edulis and O. sativa, which were both monocotyledons. Promoter cis-element analysis identified that PeCPP promoters harbored various hormone-responsive elements, suggesting that PeCPP gene expression may respond to diverse environmental stress by regulating hormone secretion levels. This study elucidates characteristics and potential functions of the CPP gene family members in P. edulis, providing important molecular genetic resource for understanding its stress adaptation mechanism.
