Experiment on Density Determination Methods of Bamboo Charcoal

  • Experiments were implemented on determination methods of density of bamboo charcoal with different specifications. The results showed that granular bamboo charcoal measured by drainage method, the liquid paraffin needed to be the test medium, and the density determination on mechanical kiln charcoal was more accuracy, with standard deviation of 0.047 g/cm3. The tap density of powdered bamboo charcoal measured by vibrating method, the highest accuracy was obtained under the conditions of vibration frequency of 200 r/min, vibration times of 1 000 and particle size of 180, with standard deviation of 0.003 2 g/cm3. Natural stacking method to determine the density of granular bamboo charcoal, the difference in height at 3 cm had the best accuracy, with the standard deviation of 0.000 95 g/cm3. When measuring the density of powdered bamboo charcoal, the precision of density was higher with the particle size of 60 mesh and the falling height of 5 cm, and the standard deviation was 0.000 14 g/cm3.
