Dwarfing Technique for Different Osmanthus fragrans Cultivars

  • Experiment was conducted on pruning resistance of Osmanthus fragrans ‘Yuanyesijigui’, O. fragrans ‘Tiannusanhua’, O. fragrans‘Jinqiuzao’, and O. fragrans ‘Zhuangyuanhong’ in July 2013. In July 2014, another experiment was made on dwarfing capacity of paclobutrazol(PP333) and chlorcholinchlorid (CCC) on O. fragrans ‘Tiannusanhua’ and O. fragrans ‘Yuanyesijigui’. The results demonstrated that O. fragrans‘Yuanyesijigui’ and O. fragrans ‘Tiannusanhua’ had stronger resistance of pruning. Both PP333 and CCC could inhibit new shoot growth of the tested two cultivars, the former had better effect. O. fragrans ‘Tiannusanhua’ O. fragrans ‘Yuanyesijigui’ treated with 600mg/kg and 800mg/kg of PP333 had the best result of dwarfing with much more new shoot, smaller shape and more tight of the tree.
