Medicinal Plant Resources in Milin County of Tibet

  • Wild medicinal plant resources in Milin county, Tibet were investigated three times by route and quadrat survey during 2013-2015. The results showed that there were 316 medicinal species belonging to 225 genera and 77 families, which accounted for 58.30% in species, 72.82% in genera and 84.62% in families of vascular plants in Milin county respectively. There were 183 species of perennial herbs occupied 57.91% of the total medicinal plant, 138 species for the whole plant use, 43.67% of the total ones, 119 species for heat-clearing, 37.66% of the total ones. It had 229 species, belonging to 172 genera and 62 families of minority medicinal plants, accounting for 72.47% of the total ones. Recommendations were provided for conserving and exploitation medicinal plants in Milin county. Recommendations were proposed such as building database for wild medicinal plant resources, enhancing research on minority medicinal plants, and establishing medicinal plant reserve for better development of medicinal plants in Milin county.
