  • Ten Castanopsis hystrix trees were selected for seed harvesting from Wuping of Fujian in 2011. Seed traits were determined and seedlings were cultivated in Chun’an, Zhejaing province in the next year. In 2013, comparison tests were implemented on families by afforestation of 1-year seedlings. The result demonstrated that thousand seed weight, viability and germination rate of tested seeds had mean variable coefficient less than 5%, but germinative force had great variable coefficient. 1-year seedlings of different families had 100% survival rate, 89.33% conservation rate in 2015, among them, seedings of 3 families had conservation rate of 96.67%. Ground diameter, seedling height and branching number of tested families had great difference. Advices were offered for family selection by germinative force and afforestation target.
